What happens to old library books? If they are lucky, sometimes they become art!
Students attending CCU's Visual Arts Academy recently recycled some of Kimbel Library's withdrawn library materials into fantastic works of art!
You can visit the Bryan Art Gallery to view artwork by these students through July 1st.
Here's just a quick preview of some of their work:
P.S. this is the 100th post for the Kimbel Library blog, too! Thanks for reading!
This blog is available to keep students, faculty, staff and all patrons of Coastal Carolina University's Kimbel Library updated on news and information about Kimbel Library. Postings will include information about library hours, services, new resources and more.

An e-book for easy, online seashell identification
Guide to Seashells of the World is just one of Kimbel Library's many e-books. E-books offer the convenience of reading online from anywhere, as well as the ability to keyword search for exactly what you are looking for inside a book's pages. Check out Credo Reference, Oxford Reference Online, NetLibrary, Ebrary, and the Gale Virtual Reference Library for more easy to use e-books from Kimbel Library.

What's new on the book swap shelf?
Don't forget about our "leave one take one" book swap shelf!
It can be found at the front of the library. Take whatever you like, and leave some your own books behind so that you can share the enjoyment! Here is a peek at the books available as of Wednesday night!

Welcome, Summer I students, faculty, and staff
Today is the first day of Summer I, and Kimbel Library would like to welcome everyone to visit the library this summer. Even though our hours are reduced, we're still offering all of our normal library services (laptop checkout, study rooms for group or individual use, presentation practice rooms, research help, interlibrary loan, etc.).
If you'll be spending a lot of time at the beach this summer (while studying or grading papers, of course), we also have plenty of fun fiction reading available from the book swap shelf or for checkout in the main stacks. If you come across a cool seashell in your travels, we have many nature identification guides, too. And check out the great display in the library entry area on the first floor for some fabulous "staycation" ideas. Happy Summer!
Nature Guide to the Carolina Coast is available in the Main Stacks: QL196 .M49 1991
101 Wild Things Along the Grand Strand is available in Reference: QH105.S6 L85 2005

So many movies, so little time!
Have you seen all of the movies that have been available from the library lately?
We have been updating our video collection, and replacing many of our VHS tapes with DVDs. So, if you are among the growing number of people who no longer own a (working) VCR, come browse the collection or search our catalog for new titles. (You can look at just DVDs by changing the location to "Media DVD".)

Kimbel Library Now Has the New 7th Edition of the MLA Style Guide
The 7th edition of the widely used MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers is now available in Kimbel Library. The library has four copies of this ever-popular book: one in the Reference collection, one on the Ready Reference Shelf, one on Library Reserve (ask at the front desk) and one in the Main Stacks (See a list of the library's holdings here: http://library.coastal.edu/search/t?SEARCH=MLA+handbook+for+writers+of+research+papers). The library will be updating our online MLA help guides this summer to incorporate 7th edition changes.
