Setting the Table

Kimbel Library is participating in "Setting the Table" in partnership with the Catholic Charities-Pee Dee and the larger CCU community.

The library would like to invite you to donate canned food, non-perishable food items, grocery gift cards and Christmas supplies such as wrapping paper, bows and tape for Horry County families in need.

Donations can be dropped off in the foyer of the Kimbel Library. These donations will directly benefit the local community, providing many families in need a meal during the holiday season.

Veterans Day Displays

Wednesday, Nov. 11 is Veterans Day.

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, was declared between the Allied nations and Germany in the First World War.

Commemorated as Armistice Day the following year, November 11th became a legal federal holiday in the United States in 1938. In the aftermath of World War II and the Korean War, Armistice Day became Veterans Day, a holiday dedicated to American veterans of all wars.

Kimbel Library will be honoring Veterans in the campus community with several displays in the Bryan Information Commons. Displays will include America's White Table, a letter writing table to send thank you notes through the Any Soldier organization and a "Thank You" wall to write the names or post a photo of family or friends who have served in the military. A special thank you to all the men and women who have fought for our country, honor and freedom!

Journal Finder Released

Kimbel Library has released our new Journal Finder service. This EBSCO product offers a more robust and redesigned interface from which to search or browse our e-journal collections.

Highlights of the Journal Finder service include a Search within Publication feature that allows you to search within a journal right from the search results. If there's a specific match on a search query there will be one-click access to the matching journal title at the top of the search results, through the Exact Match Placard service. The user then has the ability to search from this Discover! search results page within this journal or just go to the journal and browse volumes and issues.
