Online Catalog Re-Design

Kimbel Library has re-designed the Online Catalog to make it easier for patrons to find materials. New features have been added to help increase access to information in the library's holdings by streamlining the process of library research.

Exciting new features include the ability to send call numbers to your phone by text message. No more scrambling to find a piece of paper and pencil; simply click the "Send a Text" button and the call number is sent to your phone. This feature saves you time by enabling you to store resources for future research and to call up an item when walking through the library stacks. You can also export bookmarked links to your choice of citation management software to aid in creating a bibliography.

Another exciting new catalog feature is the ability to use social media functions to increase the ways you can use and re-use information. For example, do you like a book you just read? Simply click on the "Share" button in the Online Catalog to share a library catalog record with your friends on a variety of social networking platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and Delicious.

The New Arrivals feature allows subject-specific RSS feeds to be generated to help you keep up to date with new resources in the library. These feeds are updated on a regular basis, so be sure to check back each month to see what's new.

The Online Catalog also has a new look and design, which allows for a more seamless browsing experience. The new design includes book covers, table of contents information, and reviews for catalog items when available. These changes will make the search process easier and more visually appealing.

We have added a feedback link in the new catalog to elicit responses from users. Like it? Let us know. Hate it? Tell us why. Click here to see the re-designed catalog. Please try it out and tell us what you think!

Kimbel Library continues to develop innovative ways to serve the information needs of the Coastal Carolina community. If you have ideas and suggestions about improving any of our services please let us know.
